Craig Wright says autism and Christmas plans should keep him out of court

Craig Wright says autism and Christmas plans should keep him out of court Craig Wright argued that his high-level autism and Christmas schedule should prevent him from attending a December court session after he was accused of contempt of court in a legal application filed today by COPA.  BitMEX Research covered the hearing where Bird and Bird filed its claim on behalf of the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA). The law firm argued that Wright has breached his injunction after he removed an online notice and launched his lawsuit against Jack Dorsey’s Square Up and BTC Core.  On top of this, COPA wants to stay Wright’s lawsuit, halting the relevant court proceedings until the contempt of court filing is settled.  Craig Wright lawsuit made 184 ‘twisted and incoherent’ claims, say analysts Read more: Craig Wright files lawsuit against BTC Core and Square without barrister COPA lawyer Jonathan Hough claimed, “It’s wrong in principle to hid...

Is Binance founder CZ really getting out of prison today?

Disgraced Binance billionaire Changpeng Zhao (CZ) could be leaving prison two days earlier than expected due to a federal rule that allows for an early exit if a prisoner’s release date falls on the weekend. CZ is scheduled to be released from the RRM Long Beach halfway house in California on September 29 according to his inmate tracker. However, a release rule under the US Code Title 18, Crimes and Criminal Procedure § 3624, states, “If the date for a prisoner’s release falls on a Saturday, a Sunday, or a legal holiday at the place of confinement, the prisoner may be released by the Bureau on the last preceding weekday.” Because it states he “may” be released early, the widely reported Friday release date is not set in stone. Users online also thought he was free when he was moved last month. Sam Bankman-Fried’s parents seeking dismissal of FTX lawsuit

Sam Bankman-Fried’s parents have filed a motion to dismiss FTX’s lawsuit , denying involvement in the exchange’s downfall. Months after the dramatic implosion of crypto exchange FTX, Joseph Bankman and Barbara Fried are embroiled in a legal battle, facing accusations of complicity in their son’s alleged financial misdeeds. In September 2023, FTX, now under new management, initiated a lawsuit against the FTX founder’s parents , alleging their involvement in widespread financial misconduct at the company. Central to FTX’s claim is the pursuit of millions of dollars they allege were misappropriated by the couple, including a $10 million gift to Joseph Bankman. However, the defense mounted by Bankman and Fried’s legal team has labeled the lawsuit as “threadbare,” basing their argument on the fact that their involvement is assumed purely because of their relation to their son. The primary defense hinges on the assertion that neither had official roles wi...

SBF blames slow internet as lawyers refute DoJ claims that computer access is sufficient

FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried’s legal team argued that the Department of Justice (DoJ) is embellishing their client’s access to defense documents. In a letter released on Sept. 8, the defense insisted that their client’s access to necessary legal material via laptops is limited. Meanwhile, prosecutors maintain that they have resolved the laptop issues with cooperation from the defense.  The bone of contention is the alleged inadequate conditions at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC), which the defense posits are hindering their client from adequately preparing for his forthcoming trial in October. Judge Lewis Kaplan was drawn into the matter last week, requesting both parties present him with briefs detailing the conditions at the detention center. However, both parties seem to read from different scripts with conflicting accounts. German hosting stored in NATO bunker confronts TornadoCash-like verdict

CyberBunker, a German web hosting firm previously housed in a NATO bunker, appeals its controversial conviction for facilitating illicit transactions. Back in December 2021, eight people involved with Cyber bunker were sentenced despite the prosecutors being unable to prove that they facilitated the illicit activities of the services the company hosted. German news outlet DW then reported on the matter, highlighting that the case is “new legal ground.” Still, all eight defendants were convicted for running a “bulletproof hosting” service from a former NATO bunker in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The facility hosted illegal services that they had no proven involvement with. The service ran for nearly six years and allowed any content except child pornography and terrorism. The 62-year-old Dutchman, accused of purchasing the NATO bunker that housed the infrastructure, was sentenced to five years and nine months of prison. The remaining defendants had sentences ranging a...

Kim Kardashian could be heading toward victory in investor lawsuit

Hình ảnh
Kim Kardashian made quite some noise this year. This, however, wasn’t part of showbiz. The reality star was in the headlines for endorsing a crypto . While celebrity endorsements are common, the repercussions of her promotions were louder than the crypto ad itself. Kardashian was joined by prominent boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. in legal trouble for endorsing EthereumMax. Just last month, Kardashian was hit with a lawsuit. Recent reports point out that the aforementioned parties had won a tentative court ruling dismissing a lawsuit accusing them of defrauding investors through EthereumMax. US District Judge Michael Fitzgerald stated in a written ruling on Monday that in his “tentative view” the investors’ attorneys are “trying to act like” the US Securities and Exchange Commission, but “haven’t chosen to view the tokens as a security.” In addition to this, they haven’t employed a typical securities fraud claim in this par...
